The name Gullveig means ‘Gold Intoxication’ and ‘Heidr ‘means Fame. Little is known of the Vanir Goddess Gullveig, what is known is that she is a child of the Jotun Hrimnir and is a seeress and Volva. She travelled from Vanaheimr to Asgardr to perform Magick to the Aesir, they deemed her powers irresponsible and their response was to spear her and burn her on the fire. They tried three times and each time she was reborn. On the third time she became Heidr and gained strong powers in Seidr and the ability to control animals.
