Little is known of the Vanir Goddess Nerthus, what is known is she is the mother of the twins Freyr and Freyja and a past wife of the God Njordr. She also goes by the name of Terra Mater which means Mother Earth and is associated with the harvest of fertile earth. She lives on an unnamed island within a sacred grove in the realm of Vanaheimr.

She loves to travel amongst her people and when she does there is only peace amongst them, she travels on an elaborate chariot pulled by two white heifers.
